Speed Capital Spotlight Athlete Alexandra Allen hails from Louisville, KY where she competes for Awesome Athletics coached by Harold Allen. “Awesome Alex” as she is also known, is a natural athlete and focused sprinter who specializes in the 200M and 400M events. At 12 years old she boasts impressive personal records in both events; her 200M mark of 25.9 and 400M mark of 57.7 puts her among the best in the nation. She dreams of competing for the United States in the Olympics and being able to accomplish similar accolades as her idol Allyson Felix.
At the club level, she has been nothing short of spectacular; in six years of competition, she’s amassed over 100+ first place finishes, garnered 24 National Medals, is the reigning 2019 USATF Silver Medalist in the 400M and the state of Kentucky’s USATF Youth Runner of the Year.
Alex’s performance on the middle school scene has been equally remarkable. Last year, as a sixth grader, she concluded her middle school season as the 400M champion and 200M runner up. Currently in 7th grade, she is now a member of her school’s varsity track program and started her campaign off by breaking the school’s 200M & 400M records and tied the 60M record. Unfortunately, COVID-19 brought an early end to her 7th grade campaign but there is zero doubt she will continue her quest to greatness when she steps on the track as an 8th grader in 2021.
We will continue to watch and support her journey as she transitions from middle school to high school and from “Awesome Alex” to “Alexandra The Great”. Please do the same by following her on IG @AwesomeAlexAllen or checking out her website at website www.awesomealexallen.com.
